Bring back the United Kingdom!

No, not the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I mean the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Actually, that's not what I mean.

What we want is the United Kingdom of Ireland and Great Britain.

Capital to be Dublin. Finance Minister to be Irish.

I don't know what you're complaining about, David. Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown are both Scottish, and they think that getting UK government debt up to 100% of GDP is the way to go, so I'll go with them, rather than your namby pamby nonsense about cutting government spending in a time of need.
Do you hate poor people, David? Do you?

I prefer your other idea. I'll stick with Douglas as the capital and make Great Britain and Ireland a Crown Protectorate of the IOM.

Not only that APL, they went through the water main on Friday and we got the brown stuff for an hour or so.

"Unfortunately I can't guarantee that I'd get the trams working soon..."
WTF does the government know about trams anyway?
When they were laying the new gas main up my way, the trench was obstructed by the old tram sleepers.
I mean the government only shut down the tram fifty years ago, now they want another one.

I mentioned Dublin because that way we'd get the Irish budget.
Of course, my budget would be somewhat more robust. And as I live in Mr Darling's constituency why shouldn't I be Chancellor in an Edinburgh-based UK government? After the Farrer cuts, the size of the government would be so tiny that it wouldn't impact on Edinburgh's quality of life.
Unfortunately I can't guarantee that I'd get the trams working soon...
