The lack of competition between Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports is in the news again. What I don't understand, though, is all the attention paid to a supposed need for additional runways in Scotland. Gatwick manages to handle 30 million passengers a year with single runway operation. Glasgow handles 7 million passengers annually and Edinburgh 6 million. Edinburgh should complete full parallel taxiways - that would increase capacity at far less cost than a new runway.
