We were only there for a few hours having docked for the day at Portimao on a cruise liner.
I'm probably the only Brit who'd previously been to Portugal without seeing the sea. About 20 years ago I flew to Almeria and rented a car. I drove to Madrid via Granada, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Seville, and spent one night just over the Portuguese border in Moura.
