My american ears are now totally confused. I can't hope to pronounce any of that. 
It doesn't help that the mere mention of Scottish accents always makes me think of a chicken saying "thrust!".

Interesting. I live in Sheffield, practically the middle of England and yet WE use "besom" as in "naughty besom", typically when referring in an indulgent manner towards children or pets, (not gender specific though). 
Assuming it's the same word of course, I've never seen how it's spelt, it's pronounced "beezum".
