The police were "interviewing" an anarchist outside McDonald's where I had supported international capitalism by having a cheeseburger.

Note the English police uniforms.

A meeting

Walking back from photographing yesterday's march in Edinburgh I was approached by an elderly gentleman wearing a Scottish Socialist Party badge. He asked if I would like to purchase a postcard of Che. I asked him why on earth would I want to buy a photo of a mass murderer who shot small boys. I enjoyed this confrontation so much that I had to go and celebrate with a beer.

A pauper marches

Perhaps I'll see Gordon Brown later today:
Chancellor Gordon Brown has revealed he plans to participate in the Make Poverty History demonstration in Edinburgh during the G8 summit.
It's entirely appropriate for Mr Brown to worry about poverty - on his watch the pound has lost almost 8% of its value since late April.

Trainspotting

I understand that a Scotland-bound train was held up at Preston earlier.

The police were in attendance because someone had "yelled pro-capitalism sentiments" at the train which was "full of treehugging plonkers."

Not quite 007

This one shows a police presence outside the Russian Consulate in Melville Street.

Several times a week I am in Charlotte Square and at lunchtime today I saw an unusual sight: two police officers guarding Number 6, the official residence of the First Minister. I had a chat and was told that trouble wasn't expected except possibly on Monday when the anti-capitalist anarchists (so-called) are due to do their stuff. The policeman said that they were ready for any eventuality and, more importantly, welcomed all the overtime.

(UPDATE: I've discovered that the new Blogger uploading system allows one to click on the photographs and enlarge them.)
