If you’re on a train at around 8.30 on a Saturday evening, how do you know that the next station is Newcastle?
Answer:
Because, not only are all the girls furiously applying their make-up, but they also have their portable hair styling devices plugged into the on-board power sockets that GNER provides for laptop users.

I saw them a couple of weeks ago but don't remember them being available (in economy) last summer.

No, they have them in steerage nowadays!
When did that begin? I haven't travelled steerage on GNER for about six years.

David, come down to Ayr station some time and watch the "clubbers' special" arrive on a Friday evening.
