Andrew McManama Well , I reckon I'm all too late... But first, I'm originally English, but I live in the States, which is probably worse for you than just plain American. And I was being ironic, which I do all the time on that site. My site's name is about as unimaginative as they get, and I actually like Freedom and Whisky, as well as freedom and whisky... Well I like you even if you don't like me...

Neil Craig Andrew, assuming the fellow is american, I think you are going to have to explain the meaning of "wanker" to him. good luck.

Simon Jester Since David has the relevant quote at the top of the blog, it seems a particularly daft criticism.

Not Burns, but a favorite Scottish folk ballad of mine from my high school English class.

Andrew Ian Dodge What a complete wanker that bloke is...I mean what is so original about his blog's name?
I rather like Freedom and Whiskey, very much a statetment of purpose.

Neil Craig I suppose it works both ways. If you recognise the title reference you will probably like the contents. If you don't you probably won't.
Thats why things have titles.

EU Serf The stupid idiot critises and then does not offer comments so we can not argue back.
Blogs that have a persons name as their title generate zero curiosity where as the likes of Freedom and Whisky are descriptive.

Andrew Duffin Seems they are too stupid to realise that "Freedom and Whisky" is a quote.
Ditto Crooked Timber
You'd think people would Google a bit before launching off.
btw the name is one of the FEW things Stuart likes? I would think he was trolling if I didn't know better - Oh, wait...

Stuart The name is one of the few things I like about this blog. To most Scots its origin is pretty obvious.
Perhaps to foreigners it may seem odd, but it wouldn't do them any harm to read more Burns.
I don't much care for our national drink, but I am very fond of liberty. Vote Independence.
