David Farrer (1) No idea. I think this is a change that Blogger has recently introduced. Perhaps it's only with old-style templates like mine.
(2) Motherwell is the Scottish equivalent of Watford in railway terms. It's the outer conurbation station that allows long distance travellers to change to suburban services without going into the big city.

Stuart Dickson David,
Why, when you link to older Freedom and Whisky posts, does one have to scroll down through screeds of white before hitting any text?
Also, why, incidentally did you pick Motherwell as your cut-off point? Does the spouse of the Scottish Labour aristocracy, Lady MacLibDem, not qualify as an integral part of the "Scottish Raj"?
