Ha!

All I can say is: One out, all out!

(On second thoughts, I wonder if Michael Howard is now cursing himself for supporting ID cards. Will Blair now trump the Tories by appointing an anti-ID card Home Secretary?)

Probably not, but I am fascinated to see that some Labour backbenchers are willing to risk their necks on this issue:

-"Up to 30 Labour MPs could oppose the scheme during a Commons debate."

Dickson' obvious preference regarding saints is shared by all SNP supporters and is none other than the problematic St Jude( patron of lost, or in the case of the SNP, impossible causes).

-"Mr Blunkett said Mr Blair had "backed me to the hilt," adding: "I have built my reputation on honesty, I have sometimes been too honest."

Crikey. We have not seen such delusional self-importance since the days of Margaret Thatcher. Her crying fit was equally satisfying. Almost purgatory.

Blunkett could never quite be as poetically delusional as Thatcher: remember her 1979 "St Francis of Assisi" speech in Downing St? Barf!

The day you start believing pollsters predictions is the same day you gullibly demonstrate unquestioning faith in the rationality of the electorate. Pollsters are the biggest gang of hucksters and shills in the entire unedifying spectacle of politics.

How very trade unionist! Not the kind of individualist cry one would expect of a "libertarian".

I'm afraid that that decision is up to the electorate. It does not look too hopeful:

http://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/index.html

-"Current Prediction: Labour majority 134"

Admittedly that is from all the polls before the Blunkett scandal, but I'm sure we can depend on the Tories to fluff their chance.

I'm pleased to see that Electoral Calculus forecasts three Nationalist gains (Dundee East, Ochil & South Perthshire, and Ynys Mon).

Victor Meldrew moment...

Saw the Scotsman today. What is it with Blunkett crying, for gods sake?

We know he has no integrity. But has he no dignity?

We're governed by a class of kindergarten children.

Yeah he will probably be back in a summer re-shuffle. I am sure glad to see the back of him.

Verity: "...great deal of pleasure to be derived from seeing a political sleazebag hit the dirt snivelling."

A great deal indeed. The terrible thing is, the GBP in their current degenerate state will think it so sad that nice poor blind Mr Blunket lost his job.

And as if by magic there she is some nonentity blair babe on the c4 just now, saying "..how tragic it was that a man of such integrity, who struggled against the odds..." I nearly vomited blood.

Anyone care to bet how long he will be out of government? six months max is my bet.

It would have mattered who Blair replaces him with because not one member of the cabinet (except maybe the awful Gordon Brown) is allowed to have any ideas of initiative of their own, anyway. It is all directed by Blair personally. He just has various puppets making his announcements for him.
